Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship

This is a degree apprenticeship at level 6 and is delivered flexibly in the workplace, supported by online tutorials. Tailored support can be provided to the business at no extra cost to ensure that the apprenticeship meets business needs and is delivered in line with financial and performance targets. Duration is typically 4 – 4.5 years

The programme is based on a core set of outcomes that are supplemented by one of the following specialisms:

  • Cyber security analyst
  • Data analyst
  • Software engineer
  • Network engineer.


Core outcomes all students will learn:

  • Introduction to computing and information technology
  • Computing technologies
  • Career development and employability
  • Service project and requirements management
  • Object oriented java programming
  • Change, strategy and projects at work
  • Web technologies
  • IT systems: planning for success

The entry requirements for this programme vary according to the provider but minimum requirements are functional skills at level 2 in English and Maths on completion of the apprenticeship.

BEng (Hons) Embedded electronic systems design and development engineer (top up)

Level 6

Do you hold an HND or Foundation degree in engineering?

This top-up degree apprenticeship is designed to enable you to significantly enhance your engineering career and sets you on the right pathway to achieving Professional Engineering status. The flexibility of this programme will allow you to undertake your individual project at your place of work which means you can continue to add value to your employer while you learn.

Delivery takes place over one year with a day per week at university.  You will study 4 core units that will develop your skills and in-depth understanding in major subjects in Electronic Engineering. You will also have the opportunity to work on an individual project that you will complete in your place of work.

  • Advanced Electronic Systems
  • Real-time Embedded Systems
  • Digital Signal Processing
  • VHDL & FPGA Systems
