Higher Futures Team Vacancy – Employer Skills Brokerage Officer

A full-time opportunity has arisen within the Higher Futures Team for an Employer Skills Brokerage Officer. The Higher Futures Team is responsible for the implementation and delivery of the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s City Deal programme. The Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) looks to build on the vibrant economic profile of the region by making strategic investments that trigger further growth in the local economy.

City Deal is a major strategic economic programme to be delivered across Unitary Authority boundaries. This transformative programme which will contribute to the establishment of a private sector led HE offer for Swindon & Wiltshire working with a range of innovative and forward thinking Higher Education providers to address the skills requirements employers face at Level 4+. The team sits within SWLEP and delivers the programme on behalf of Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Council. Successful delivery of the project will require the support of multiple stakeholders, including a number of Central Government Departments, both Unitary Authorities (Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Council), a range of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and FE Colleges.

As the only Local Enterprise Partnership area in England that does not have a university campus, Swindon and Wiltshire currently has a limited Higher Education offer resulting in skills gaps and shortages which limit business growth. This role involves developing an understanding of local business skills needs and providing information on a range of solutions which will support business growth and effectiveness.
